I grew up with my Mom’s recipe using crushed crackers into crumbs…well I have been converted! Our friend Julie turned us on to Sturdiwheat’s Coating Mixes for our tomatoes, red or green, they are delicious!
Extra tomatoes in the garden? What better way to serve them. With your favorite grilled steak, chicken, pork or add them to a burger and WOW what a tasty addition to your meal.
Fried Green or Red Tomatoes!
Heat frying pan over medium heat with 2 TBLS olive oil (Add more oil as needed)
Beat 2 eggs until well mixed.
Slice 3 tomatoes 1/2″ thick.
Dip sliced tomato in beaten egg.
Pour 1 cup of Sturdiwheat Coating Mix on to a plate (pour more mix on plate as needed)
Dip tomato in coating mix (Sturdiwheat Original or spice them up with the Sturdiwheat Cajun) let sit a few minutes.
Fry until lightly browned, flip and fry other side until light brown.
Enjoy warm, plain or with your favorite dipping sauce.
