Aebleskivers!  Discover these round pancakes for breakfast or as a dessert!

 

Æbleskiver (Danish meaning apple slices (singular: æbleskive)) are traditional Danish pancakes in a distinctive shape of a sphere.  Aebleskivers are solid like a pancake but light and fluffy like a popover. The English language spelling is usually aebleskiver or ebleskiver

These are a fun breakfast idea for the whole family. Kids can help prepare them and add the fruit filling of their choice. So much fun to make and eat… your family will love them!

Sturdiwheat Aebleskiver Mix directions:

1) Beat 1 egg slightly in measuring cup, add water to make 1 cup liquid.

2) Gently mix the 1 cup of liquid with 1 cup of Aebleskiver Mix. Allow to stand 1-2 minutes

3) Preheat Aebleskiver pan on stovetop over medium heat.  Place ¼ – ½ tsp. butter or

margarine in each depression.

4) Fill each depression with 1 TBSP batter or enough batter to fill ¾ full*

5) Cook until edges are lightly browned & tops are bubbly. Turn or roll each Aebleskiver & continue cooking until lightly browned and cooked throughout.

6) Serve topped with butter and syrup or sprinkled with powdered sugar.

*Small amount of applesauce, finely sliced apple, apple pie filling or jam may be added to Aebleskiver before turning.

We have tested two Aebleskiver pans using our Sturdiwheat Aebleskiver Mix and here are our results.

We agreed they both produced great looking Aebleskivers. The heat was more consistent with the electric pan but for the price we thought the stove top pan was a better value.
