The Story of
Johnny Appleseed:
Birthday: September 26, 1774
For nearly 50 years "Johnny" planted apple seeds and
started
nurseries in the wilderness so that the fruit could be
harvested
by the pioneering families as they arrived. Apple trees
matured from
his seeds throughout Ohio and into Indiana, Illinois,
and Kentucky.
"Johnny" is buried North of Fort Wayne, Indiana under
the inscription:
Johnny Appleseed
(John Chapman)
He lived for others.
